Welcome to The LightCult!

The LightCult is an international BIPOC soundcamp of diverse artists, performers, DJs, writers, educators, intellectuals and more. We are united by a shared commitment to connection, creativity and the ardent pursuit of that singular magic that comes from building lasting friendships and community in the dust (or mud) of Black Rock City.

About

For the 2024 burn, we have an exceptional location at 2&E. We will offer public daytime programming in our art gallery and nighttime decadence on our dance floor.

Our camp is the successor of Bat Country, a raucous Hunter S. Thompson-themed biker bar that ran from 1997 to 2019. LightCult continues our predecessor’s long-standing tradition of bringing all the vibes and shenanigans, but we are now equally focused on providing exceptional art and programming at our dedicated gallery space. In a way, you could say we grew up. While we still love a good party, we are also committed to providing a platform for artistic expression, personal growth and quality interactions.

All of our campers are encouraged to contribute their art, performances, talks, DJ sets and other talents and passions to our programming - or to try something entirely new! Our vision is for The LightCult to be a creative laboratory for our campers. We are also happy to host guests who would like to contribute something to our space.

Our campers come from all over the world, but many of us are based in New York City. We are especially interested in helping to make Burning Man a logistically feasible endeavor for East Coasters and others who have to make a significant travel trek out West. Whether you’re a first-time burner or a veteran, you are welcome here.
